I honestly wasn't expecting much from this place, small pubs in the middle of nowhere can be very hit or miss sadly. But this place. Wow. Lovely inside, really helpful staff and locals. Proper warm, welcoming country pub. The food though, expecting usual pub grub, so went for the usual litmus test; steak and ale pie. When it arrived, I could tell it was going to be good, proper home made pie, fresh veg, and home cut chips. And I wasn't disappointed. In fact, this is the best pie and chips I've ever had in a pub. And that is saying something! Tons of filling, plenty of meat, good meat! Filled me up for sure. Would hate to live close to this place as I'd be fat & constantly drunk. Oh yes, a pint of ipa was less than £4! £3.65. Bargain! What a place! And no, I am not affiliated with it at all. Just on holiday Dog friendly too!
We were staying at America Farm nearby. We popped in of an evening for a drink and a packet of crisps. It is a proper pub for the locals, who were very friendly and welcoming, as was the landlord. The fire was lit, the Christmas decorations were up, very cosy. There were lads playing pool, it has a really nice atmosphere. We got chatting to a couple of locals. Apparently on a clear day you can see a number of Counties as it's location is very high up. We asked about booking for food on the Friday evening, all ok. We returned on the Friday, ordered a beef lasagne and the butter chicken curry. Great food, plenty of it, nice and hot, great price. We chatted to more locals, had a game of pool. Like I said, it's a proper pub. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend.
Went for the Japanese evening, absolutely loved the food and the staff were very friendly
Had a lovely meal here last night. Good atmosphere, wonderful pie and chicken kebab. Very reasonably priced
Lovely little pub. Food is excellent. Proper chips just like my Mum made them. Pie is top quality with proper pieces of meat. Full plate so you don’t feel hungry when you left. Staff provided excellent service. Fairly priced so I didn’t feel ripped off. Thank you.
2nd time we've visited and again not disappointed. Fantastic food, friendly staff and lovely welcoming environment. The pies are amazing, the chips to die for and dont get mr started on the desserts. Highly recommended and already planning our next visit. Thanks everyone for another wonderful evening.
